Google Fiber vs Xfinity

When Google Fiber was first announced, everyone was excited. It was this promise of a super fast Internet Connection which was partly disrupted. Xfinity, on the other hand, has taken quite a leaps over the past few years & gained quite a bit of popularity from the users. But, who has the better service among these two? Let’s find out in this Google Fiber vs Xfinity comparison. This is gonna take a while so, grab some popcorn if you want.

Important Points

Google Fiber vs Comcast Xfinity Detailed Comparison

As the title suggests, we will be comparing the Television and Internet services here. Both of the companies have that. However, the biggest difference between these services is that Xfinity is mostly cable based. Only their Gigabit & Gigabit Pro plans are based on fiber-optics but, Google Fiber is an all-fiber service.

Google Fiber vs Xfinity Internet

Both of the services have a variety of internet plans to choose from. Let’s compare them side by side,

ServicePlanSpeedPrice
XfinityPerformance Starter15 Mbps$19.99/month
XfinityPerformance Plus60 Mbps$29.99/month
XfinityPerformance Pro150 Mbps$44.99/month
XfinityBlast Pro250 Mbps$59.99/month
XfinityExtreme Pro400 Mbps$74.99/month
XfinityGigabit1000 Mbps$89.99/month
XfinityGigabit Pro2000 Mbps$299.99/month
Google FiberFiber 100100 Mbps$50/month
Google FiberFiber 10001000 Mbps$70/month

So, as far Internet plans go, Xfinity has a lot of variety of plans compared to Google. So you can get an Xfinity plan for just $19.99. But, for Google, it starts at $50/month for a 100 Mbps connection. Xfinity on the other hand offers has a 150 Mbps plan for $44.99 which is cheaper. However, the 1000 Mbps plan is actually cheaper at $70 while Xfinity charges $89.99 for the same.

Google Fiber vs Xfinity Speed

Now, the max speeds for Google Fiber & Xfinity are not the same. Google goes only up to 1000 Mbps but, if that’s not enough for you, you can get a 2000 Mbps plan from Xfinity. However, that costs $299.99 per month. you want to know the Indian cost for this item, then click here for a currency converter.

Now, let’s check out the TV plans & again compare them side by side,

Google FiberLatinoNA$05.00/month

We don’t know the exact number of channels that Google Fiber is offering so, it’s hard to say something about that. But, just for context, the All-in-one package includes all the channels combined from the other packages. The Premium plan actually includes all channels of HBO, Cinemax, Showtime & Starz. that ensure all the hollywood movies that you will not miss That’s literally why those two packages are on the top. If you’re not getting the All-in-one package, you can mix & match other packages as you like & create your own plan. However, many users have complained that Google Fiber TV gives issues sometimes. So, you may want to check on that in your local area first.

Xfinity, on the other hand, has four total packages ranging from  $39.95 (100+ channels) to $104.99 (260+ channels). As Google’s channel numbers are not available right now, it hard to do any kind of comparison here but, if the All-in-one package is anything similar to the Digital Premium package of Xfinity, then it might be worth it. Again check in your local area for total available channel numbers first.

So, who has the better Internet & TV services?

If both online services are available in your area, you may be better off with Xfinity. They have more variety in the Internet area & more reliability in TV services. However, this changes when you’re going for a 1000 Mbps Internet connection or maybe even the All-in-one TV package. Otherwise, we have to give this one to Xfinity.

That’s all for our Google Fiber vs Xfinity Internet & TV comparison. Which one did you pick for yourself? Don’t forget to tell us in the comments section below.
