DISH & Xfinity both are huge names when it comes to Television services. They have a wide coverage area & a bunch of plans to choose from. That’s why it is confusing when you try to choose one over another. Well, no worries there as we have done a detailed DISH vs. Xfinity TV comparison so, you don’t end up with a wrong plan.
DISH vs Xfinity – Platform Differences
The platforms are the main differences here. DISH, as the name suggests, is a Satellite based network while Xfinity is completely cable based. That means bad weather may affect the DISH users but, so can damaged wires to Xfinity users. Other than that we don’t really see much of a difference in other aspects but, let’s compare the plans now.
DISH vs Xfinity TV
Talking about plans, we’ve organized the plans in a table so, it’s easier for you to compare them. Have a look,
Service | Plan | Channels | Price ($) |
Xfinity | DIGITAL ECONOMY | 100+ | 39.95 |
Xfinity | DIGITAL STARTER | 140+ | 49.99 |
Xfinity | DIGITAL PREFERRED | 220+ | 59.99 |
Xfinity | DIGITAL PREMIUM | 260+ | 104.99 |
DISH | America’s Top 120 | 190 | 59.99 |
DISH | America’s Top 120 Plus | 190+Regional Sports | 69.99 |
DISH | America’s Top 200 | 240 | 79.99 |
DISH | America’s Top 250 | 290 | 89.99 |
So Who Takes The Crown?
If we choose precisely, Xfinity has the upper hand in most of the areas. It has better pricing if we consider the number of channels. So, definitely in case, you do find Xfinity available in your area, you can go for it.
Where DISH does shine though, is in America’s Top 250 plan which is cheaper than the premium plan of Xfinity & has more number of channels too. Though you need to remember that the premium plan of Xfinity comes with HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc. included for the entire year (1-Year contract), DISH only gives Showtime & Starz for three months. So, for some people that may not be worth giving up. There is also a price guarantee which is sadly for just 1 year for Xfinity but, it’s actually two years for DISH. So, that’s a thing to consider as well.
But overall, Xfinity takes the crown in this DISH vs Xfinity comparison. So, unless you only want a Satellite TV, you’re better off with Xfinity. It has way more channels & the starting price is way lower than DISH.
