Centurylink vs. Xfinity – Which One To Choose For Faster Internet And Better TV Services?

Last Updated on September 18, 2021 by Satish Varre Leave a Comment

Centurylink vs Xfinity

We have previously compared several Internet & TV services with Xfinity. Today we’re comparing Centurylink vs Xfinity which is kind of a different bag. Let me explain that throughout this article. Anyway, if you haven’t read any of the comparisons before, Comcast’s Xfinity is a popular Internet & TV service that is widely available in the US. Century link is also well known but, they’re not as widely available as Xfinity. There are some significant differences here. Let’s discuss that in detail.

Centurylink vs Xfinity – Detailed Comparison

Centurylink vs Xfinity – Platforms & Services

Let’s start with Television. Both Xfinity & Centurylink offer TV services. However, Xfinity actually has it’s own TV services but, Centurylink has partnered with Directv to provide their services instead. Both support on-demand streaming too. Xfinity has its own Xfinity Stream & Centurylink, of course, provide Directv’s on-demand streaming services. Centurylink also has a telephone (landline) service.

Centurylink vs Xfinity – Plans & Pricing

For the Internet, Centurylink offers Gigabit ethernet for $65 per month with no contract. This is something Xfinity doesn’t have. Xfinity’s $65  per month plan actually comes with a 1-year contract. It is also not Gigabit at that price. But, it does bundle it’s TV & on-demand streaming services within that pack while Centurylink is only providing Internet.

Breaking down the plans in further detail, Xfinity’s Internet plans start at $19.99 which has the basic 15 Mbps download speed. The $29.99 plan upgrades the speed to 60 Mbps. Going $39.99 gives 10+ TV channels alongside the 60 Mbps Internet speed. Oh, and I already told you about the $65 plan. There are other bundle plans too that cost more than that. But, we don’t need to compare those here.

Centurylink on the other side currently starts at $45 month for a 40-80 Mbps connection. Make that $55 & you get a 100-140 Mbps connection. And again you know about the $65 plan. The TV service is not included in any of these plans.

So which one should you choose?

We already mentioned that Centurylink is not that widely available as Xfinity. So, you cannot get it in many places anyway. But, if you have both options available, we will recommend Xfinity over Centurylink. Yes, it does have Gigabit Ethernet at $65 so, if that’s the only thing you need, you can consider Centurylink. However they do have pretty mixed feedback about Internet speeds so, you may want to check first with others in your area who are already using their services. A small number of computer users use Linux operating systems compared to Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X users. Linux is, however, embedded in other electronic devices such as TVs, watches, servers, cameras, routers, printers, fridges, and even cars.

Xfinity vs. AT&T – Who Has Better Television Services

Last Updated on June 13, 2019 by Satish Varre Leave a Comment

xfinity vs at&t

When it comes to Television & Internet services, Comcast Xfinity and AT&T are one of the most popular names in the US. They both have their own strengths and weaknesses. But, which one of them is better for you? Well, we’ll find out in this comparison of Xfinity vs AT&T. Let’s break down the whole thing into several parts while keeping the whole thing as short & to the point as possible.

Xfinity vs AT&T – Differences in Platform

Comcast’s Xfinity is a wired cable network. It has Digital Television services alongside fast Internet services & it also has an on-demand Streaming platform. AT&T actually has two different platforms. One is their Directv satellite television platform & the other one is their Uverse cable television & internet services platform.

So, as the number of options to choose from is higher for AT&T, we’ll have to give this round to them. Unlike Xfinity where you’re stuck with only cable television, AT&T is giving you options to choose from either satellite or cable television. However, if Xfinity is available in your area but only one of the AT&T services are available, that could be a different story. In easy words, that can be both a good thing or a bad thing depending on which type of service you prefer. But, overall, AT&T has the edge in this segment.

Xfinity vs AT&T – Differences on Plans & Packages

There is a vast number of packages available to choose from. Let’s have a look at them.

Xfinity’s plans start at $49.99/month (1-year contract). This pack includes 140+ channels. There are two other plans costing 59.99/month (220+ channels) & $104.99/month (260+ channels) respectively. The $104.99 includes HBO, Cinemax & Showtime.

AT&T’s Directv plans start at $35/month (contract of 12 months + 12 months so, 24 months in total). In the second year, the cost rises to $81 per month. This pack includes 155+ channels. Next, there is a $45/month plan that includes some sports channels as well and  185+ channels in total ($110/month in the second year). 1 year of HBO is also included in this pack. Finally, there is a $60/month package with 250+ channels ($135/month in the second year).  It’ll cost $8.49/month extra if you want regional sports (2nd & third package).

AT&T’s Uverse plans start at $19/month (U-Basic) which gives 25+ local channels without HD support. However, there is a $35/month pack (U-Family) that supports HD & 190+ channels. Next, there is a $55/month (U-200, 380+ channels) plan, a $60/month (U-300, 495+ channels) & a $110/month (U-450, 565+ channels). These last three plans come with free HBO for the first year  & the U-450 comes with HBO, Cinemax & Showtime included. Excluding the $19 U-basic, all the other plans actually come with a 1-year contract.

Which one has the better Television service then?

Well, if you want Satellite television then, AT&T’s Directv is the only option here. However, Xfinity’s cable network definitely has way better pricing if you calculate the total 2-year costs of both services. AT&T’s Uverse on the other side clearly has way more content available for Television  & it’s a better value for the money. So, if you have U-verse available in your area, go for it. Otherwise, you can look at Xfinity or Directv (if satellite television is your thing).

Xfinity vs. Uverse – Which One Is Better For Your Television Experience?

Xfinity vs Uverse

Previously we have compared, Xfinity television services with Directv which was a service of AT&T. Today we’re comparing Xfinity with Uverse which is another AT&T service. So, if you’re looking to choose between these, hang tight for our Xfinity vs Uverse comparison. We’ll try to keep it short & provide only the important pointers.

Xfinity vs Uverse – The Platform Similarities & Differences

Xfinity & Uverse are both cable services so, the platform is exactly the same here. In both cases, the signal is transmitted to the DVR through wires & that’s why there should be no issues during bad weather conditions. However, cable damage will definitely interrupt the service.

You can also get bundled Internet packages with both services. However, the main differences actually start when we get into pricing & availability. So, let’s jump into that.

Xfinity vs Uverse – Pricing & Availability

Uverse holds a huge advantage in this segment. Their plans start at $19/month (U-Basic) which only gives 25+ local channels without HD. However, the $35/month pack (U-Family) gives access to HD & 190+ channels. Similarly, there is a $55/month (U-200, 380+ channels) plan, a $60/month (U-300, 495+ channels) & a $110/month (U-450, 565+ channels). All of these three plans come with free HBO for the first year  & the U-450 actually comes with HBO, Cinemax & Showtime included in the plan. Excluding U-basic, all the other plans actually come with a 12-month (1 year) contract.

Xfinity’s plans start at $49.99/month and it also has a 1-year contract. The starter pack actually includes 140+ channels. There are two other costing about 59.99/month (220+ channels) & $104.99/month (260+ channels). The last one includes HBO, Cinemax & Showtime.

Both of these services also provide on-demand content which can be accessed on the web or their mobile applications.

So, which one is for you then?

Uverse definitely offers a lot more content for the money. Also, they’re one of the highest numbers of channels available. So, if Uverse is available in your area, definitely it is the better option. However, if you can’t get Uverse in your area & maybe you have only Directv & Xfinity available, Xfinity will be the better option. Xfinity vs. Fios – Which One Should You Choose?

Last Updated on June 7, 2019 by Satish Varre Leave a Comment

Living in the US means, you have a lot of great Internet & cable options to choose from. Today we are talking about two of the most popular options for that. Comcast’s Xfinity & Verizon’s Fios. Both of them are extremely popular & they kind have different approaches as far as their services go. Let’s talk about this in detail in the upcoming sections of this article. If you’re interested, stick around. It’ll be worth it.

Xfinity vs Fios services

Both Xfinity & Fios provide TV & Internet services. However, Fios is entirely based on Fiber Optics while Xfinity is mostly old school cable. So, compared to Xfinity, FIOS has faster Internet speeds in general. On the other hand, though Xfinity has comparatively lower Internet speeds, it does have way better availability. While Fios exists in 9 total states as of now, Xfinity is available in 30+ states (35 to be exact). So, in many states, you can’t get Fios at least right now. Talking about available on-demand content though, Xfinity has a wider range of content compared to Fios.

Xfinity vs Fios Pricing

The pricing is kind of a Mixed bag here. Xfinity starts at $65 per month if you’re getting a 12-month subscription and Fios actually starts at $79.99 per month with a 24-month agreement. Depending on exactly what you need, you can choose between the two.

Xfinity vs Fios Customer Support & Satisfaction

This one is also a mixed bag with differences based on areas of service. So, customers of both service providers have faced good & bad experiences but, Fios had better rankings compared to Xfinity so, maybe they’re slightly better but, again they have limited availability so, it really can’t be said what kind of experience you’ll get but, hopefully, none of them will be terrifying.

What do we recommend?

Well, we’ll say, if you have both options available in your area, try asking people in your area who are already using the services from these providers. That’ll give you a better idea about those services in your specific area. But, in general, you shouldn’t have any problem with either of these. Figure out what you need the most & then make your decision & you should be good to go.
